1.
The day will soon draw near When our clay feet will crumble The pedestal we were on Melted away from right beneath us The tried and true methods Are now antiquated You catch the bottle I’ll catch the train And take it into the sunset Let’s go: To the place so often dreamed of, we’ll fly away at last And hide ourselves from the watchful eye of the world They won’t understand that we’re here to celebrate A dissonance of mores it’s gonna tear our lives apart To live is to ever-strive For a time more perfect A place more beautiful For a better moment than the last We seem stuck in present Surprisingly apathetic But it’s our choice to think It’s our choice to feel this way And as we travel the path less followed We can’t help but feel alone Our rendezvous made it all worthwhile Today I breath in free air We’re already dead We can see it coming We’re already dead Though we can’t feel it yet There’s no room for error There’s no time for fault There’s no reason not to Except for what we’ve been taught
2.
For so long we thought we were so much grander Now it’s come and gone, and there’s nothing left for us to whine and moan about This is our brand new past The air feels cooler when you’re in a shadow The breathe on the back of my neck Blows in a soothing motion Settled down in the same caste forever we had everything in our sights I can’t believe you couldn’t see that you’re the only enemy you need.
3.
If I could act how I feel I’d throw a brick right through your face And blame it on your lack of understanding that all People have their own beliefs You’re not right; you’ve just read too many books That reinforce your narrow frame of mind Will I ever see you smile again? Genuine never seemed so far This Hollywood has got it all wrong this time And you know the script by heart Do you feel lost when the times change Can you find relevance in the past? Would you just prefer your daily dose of fact? It may not be the truth But it’s the closest thing you’ll fathom I’ll make it easy to pull the trigger for you It’s high time to call you out And I’ll make sure that you fall down or I’ll render you complacent A brick to the face, and then I’m gone
4.
Peeping in on the upper tier our jaws drop in awe is we come face to face Those who we thought we loved for their starring role in the night-light We’ve worn them out When yourself doesn’t fit who you’re made out to be Everyone can see through you I’m razor sharp, chalk full of vanity The new cutting edge Our hearts beat in a constant rhythm The purest form of self expression. The bland are piled up and left to burn Scatter the ashes and hope for a better tomorrow That was where our idol stood We gape with glazed over eyes The remnant of our shattered dreams completely wrecked my skinny day If being brought to your knees wasn’t enough If the sight of their failure is just too much Feel free to gouge out your eyes, for now For every action there’s an unfortunate side affect called consequence it’ll be your ugly scar
